Vanguard, SoFi, and Fidelity all provide various account options for different types of investors. All three have self-directed brokerage accounts for active traders, automated accounts for passive investors, and IRAs for retirement-focused individuals.
But unlike Vanguard and Fidelity, SoFi doesn’t offer any advisor-managed investing accounts like Vanguard Personal Advisor Services or Fidelity Personalized Planning & Advice. SoFi also has a more limited selection of investment choices, but it could be a better fit for traders looking to dip their hands in the crypto space.
While Vanguard and Fidelity are mostly neck and neck, Vanguard’s fees are slightly higher than Fidelity’s in some areas.
If you’re still interested in exploring Vanguard, keep reading to see what the brokerage offers.
Ways to invest with Vanguard
Self-directed brokerage accounts
Vanguard’s self-directed brokerage accounts are best for active traders who want control over the investments they buy and sell. Available as individual or joint brokerage accounts, this option gives you access to an array of investment choices, including Stocks, ETFs, options, bonds, mutual funds, and CDs.
Stocks, ETFs, and options here are all commission-free, but be prepared to pay an additional $1 per options contract (this is higher than brokerages like Charles Schwab and Merrill Edge, which charge $0.65 per contract). Vanguard also offers thousands of mutual funds, and while minimums for those investments can range from $1,000 to $10,000, most Vanguard mutual funds require at least $3,000.
Not to mention, Vanguard is the home of the famous Jack-Bogle-created index mutual funds. These investments are great for those looking to take the slow-and-steady route to building wealth. See more here.
Automated and advisor-managed accounts
Not interested in picking investments on your own? Vanguard offers a couple of options for hands-off investors who prefer automated or advisor-managed accounts. These include the following:

Vanguard Digital Advisor: This is Vanguard’s automated investing account. It creates a personalized portfolio for you that’s composed of Vanguard ETFs. The account has a $3,000 minimum and 0.15% advisory fee. Read our full review here.
Vanguard Personal Advisor Services: This account merges automated management with one-on-one financial advisor support. Though it has higher fees (a $50,000 account minimum and 0.30% annual fee), you get to take advantage of professional advice from a Vanguard fiduciary advisor. Read our full review here.

IRAs
Vanguard is also a great resource for those interested in using retirement accounts to build wealth. The brokerage offers several options, including traditional IRAs, SEP IRAs, Roth IRAs, 401(k) rollovers, individual 401(k)s, and SIMPLE IRAs.
These retirement accounts give you access to Vanguard’s All-in-One retirement funds and countless ETFs.
Education savings plans
If you’re interested in investing for a child or dependent, Vanguard offers multiple options. These include its 529 education savings plans, UGMA/UTMA custodial accounts (these accounts let you invest for a child until they become adults), and trust administration and investment management services.
Educational resources and insights
If you’re new to investing and simply want to improve your expertise, Vanguard provides a plethora of investment education and market analysis resources (most of which are free for those without existing accounts).
You can tap into the following resources in its investor education section:

Getting started investing
Choosing investments
Trading online
Understanding taxes
Managing your portfolio

Market summary

The brokerage also has a “News & Perspectives” hub that keeps you informed on the latest investing trends.
Is Vanguard trustworthy?
The Better Business Bureau has given Vanguard an A- rating to reflect its opinions of Vanguards customer complaint history, business practices, and advertising and licensing information. BBB ratings range from A+ to F, so this indicates a high level of customer engagement on Vanguard’s part.
Other factors the bureau considers include time in business, type of business, and government actions. But the BBB also states that its ratings don’t guarantee a company’s reliability or level of performance. For this reason, it’s important to conduct your own research as well.
Vanguard has closed fewer than 70 complaints in the last 12 months, according to BBB data.

Hey iPhone users, I know your world view is pretty much centered on blue bubbles, but do you think you could stop Liking everything in group texts? It’s annoying AF to Android users, a.k.a. most of us.I know you’ve been conditioned by Facebook and other social media services to show your approval of a friend’s cat having a bunch of kittens—but when you’re in a mixed group text, it doesn’t work the same way.On Facebook or Twitter, when you Like or Heart some tragic thing happening, it just attaches an icon to the original post.In a group text with 20 people in it, it takes the sentence you Liked—such as: “I’m feeling very sad because yesterday they stopped selling the McRib, and I’m really, really torn up about it. I’m not sure what to do with my life now”—and simply repeats it with the word Liked next to it.To read this article in full, please click here

Michele Angela Navarro Okol

She walks, talks with grace and her petite figure and soft-spoken nature may immediately offer an impression thatbefits the shy, pretty, girl next door criterion.

She is Michele Angela Navarro Okol, a 20-year consistent 1st honor dean’s lister taking up Political Science in oneof Manila’s top universities and the first ever official representative of the Island of Siargao (dubbed the Surfing Capital of the Philippines) to enter the Miss Universe Philippines pageant.

Behind her grace (which complements her beautiful face and those expressive eyes) and approachable front, you’llstart regarding her with respect the minute she speaks up.

Angela immediately captures your attention with her unique approach in life, how she celebrates her individuality and her plans to live up her God-given mission on earth.

For one, when asked her “why” in joining the country’s Miss Universe Pageant, others may be quick to quip “world peace” or other social, political and “Mother Nature” concerns.

But Okol who experienced bullying in her teens for being “too big or healthy” for her age, is taking this big step with a mission to tell her story and be an empowering force to advocate self-acceptance and love and, like her, encourage more people to turn their life around for the better. “A better you contribute to a better world.”

Thrift-flipping stylist

If some ladies her age prefers expensive brands to wear, the official representative of Siargao Island prefers to buy clothes and accessories from thrift stores and give them new meaning and style in what is known as “thrift flip.”

Okol, channels her artistic inputs on her daily garb and wear through “thrift flipping’ or “reworking.” What started as her love for sewing (since age 12), transitioned into a passion and now a purpose because “thrift flip”– for her, “is sustainable fashion.”

“My humble contribution to curb the adverse effect of large amounts of waste and harmful gasses that factories create/emit to the environment.”

Bent to make her humble contributions to save the environment, Okol also buys deadstock fabric to make clothes.“A lot of times, what’s being mass produced isn’t completely sold; ergo, these unsold materials just end up being stocked or thrown away.”

Her take on social media

She looks at social media with both its benefits and one’s responsibility in equilibrium. She believes that as convenient as social media seems, there are, of course, also consequences when misused such as cyberbullying, invasion of privacy, “cancel culture,” and online fraud, to name a few of the internet’s dangers when not used properly.

“People need to find a balance between their social physical and social online life. Many of us have become too immersed in these gadgets to see beyond the screens and socialize how we used to. In all things, there should be balance for too much of anything will inevitably lead to poor results.

Okol, with 98 others made it to the official list of candidates vying for the Miss Universe Philippines crown.

This young lass, raised by a long line of soldiers and airmen honing discipline, is excited about her Miss Universe Philippine pageant experience.

She would like to focus more on the fun side plus the learnings and opportunities that the Miss Universe pageant experience will bring to her plate.

From Binibining Pilipinas, who holds the franchise from 1964, the Miss Universe franchise in the Philippines was officially granted to a new organizing body in 2019, with Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2011, Shamcey Supsup-Lee as its national director.

Under the new organization, a separate, standalone pageant is now responsible for the selection of the future Miss Universe Philippines titleholders from 2020 onwards.

If you wish to support Okol’s Miss Universe Journey, simply download the Miss Universe application (or Android: https://bit.ly/3rxx5pv, for iOs: https://apple.co/3i6bxNI) and vote for her.#
